आज सुबह से मैंने कुछ नहीं किया है.
भूतकाल में किसी विशेष समय से ऐसा बताते समय से' इस अर्थ में since इस संबंधसूचक अव्यय का प्रयोग सिर्फ पूर्ण और पूर्ण निरन्तर काल में ही किया जाता है.भूतकाल में किसी विशेष समय से यानी सुबह से, छह बजे से, नवंबर से, 1970 से. अन्य कालों में 'से' के लिये from आता है.
जैसे,
1) Normally people work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
2) The next batch will start from the fifteenth of April.
• निम्न वाक्यों में since समुच्चयबोधक अव्यय है.
1) It is a month now since he (has) left Nagpur.
उसे नागपुर छोड़े हुए अब एक महीना हो चुका है. ।
2) Since you don't have a degree, you can't get this job.
तुम्हारे पास डिग्री न होने के कारण तुम्हें यह नौकरी नहीं मिल सकती.
• निम्न दो वाक्यों में since क्रियाविशेषण है.
1) He left Mumbai two years ago and I haven't met him since.
उसने दो साल पहले मुंबई छोड़ी. तब से मैं उससे नहीं मिला हूँ.
2) He has long since given up smoking.
उसने बहुत पहले से धूम्रपान छोड़ दिया है.
1) The price of the car was more than my expectation.
कार की कीमत मेरी अपेक्षा से ज़्यादा थी.
इसी वाक्य को निम्न रूप में बोला जाए तो than समुच्चयबोधक अव्यय होगाः
The price of the car was more than I expected.
2) The train arrived earlier than usual.
रेलगाड़ी हमेशा से जल्दी आ गई.
3) He has more experience than I.
उसके पास मुझसे ज़्यादा अनुभव है.
(इस प्रकार than के बाद I, we, he का प्रयोग गलत नहीं है. लेकिन ऐसा प्रयोग थोड़ा औपचारिक माना जाता है. अनौपचारिक भाषा में (यानी हमेशा की बोलचाल की भाषा में) than के बाद I, we.... के बजाय me, us.... का अधिक प्रयोग किया जाता है. जैसे He has more experience than me. या फिर I, we वगैरह के साथ क्रिया का प्रयोग किया जाता है.
जैसे, He has more experience than I have . )

तुम उससे ज़्यादा मोटे हो.
1.) The same thought is running through my head.
मेरे दिमाग में भी वही विचार घूम रहा है. .
2) We went through the forest.
हम जंगल में से गए.
3) Have you read this book (all) through/(right) through?
क्या तुमने यह किताब पूरी पढ़ी है?
4) Change your clothes quickly - you are wet through.
तुरंत कपड़े बदलो, तुम पूरी तरह से भीग गए हो...
5) Are you through with the paper?
क्या तुम्हारा अखबार देखना हो गया है?
1) The audience yawned throughout his speech.
उसके भाषण के दौरान श्रोता पूरे समय जम्हाइयाँ ले रहे थे.
2) He couldn't sleep throughout the night.
वह रात भर नहीं सो सका.
(Till = Until = तक)
1) I will wait for you till 4.30.
मैं साढ़े चार बजे तक तुम्हारी राह देखूगा.
2) We can't finish this job until Monday.
यह काम हम सोमवार तक समाप्त नहीं कर सकते.
3) He was working until midnight yesterday.
कल वह आधी रात तक काम कर रहा था.
4) Stay on this train till / until Manmad - and then change ,
मनमाड़ तक इस रेल से जाओ और फिर रेल बदलो.
5) Let's wait till / until it stops raining.
बारिश रुकने तक हम इंतजार करते हैं.
6) We can't leave this place till / until we get the order.
आदेश मिलने तक हम यह स्थान नहीं छोड़ सकते. (अंतिम दो वाक्यों में till/ until समुच्चयबोधक अव्यय हैं).
1) I am going to school.
मैं स्कूल जा रहा हूँ.
2) I have to go to the bank.'
मुझे बैंक जाना है.
3) Add two to five.
पाँच में दो मिलाओ.
4) I had gone to him yesterday.
मैं कल उसके यहाँ गया था.
5) Throw the ball to me.
गेंद मेरी तरफ फेंको.
6) This road goes to Mumbai..
यह सड़क मुंबई जाती है.
7) Can you show me the road to the station?
क्या आप मुझे स्टेशन जाने वाला रास्ता दिखा सकते हैं?
8) I wrote a letter to my father.
मैंने अपने पिताजी को पत्र लिखा.
9) It is ten (minutes) to four.
चार को दस मिनिट कम हैं.
समय बताते वक्त जब हम हिंदी में को... कम' कहते हैं तब अंग्रेजी में उसके लिय। उक्त प्रकार से to का प्रयोग किया जाता है.
10) It is quarter to four.
पौने चार बजे हैं.
11) There were about 30 to 40 persons at the meeting.
मीटिंग में 30 से 40 लोग थे.
12) This motor cycle runs 50 kilometres to the litre.
यह मोटरसाइकिल लीटर में 50 किलोमीटर चलती है..
13) Delhi is to the north of Agra. दिल्ली आगरा के उत्तर में है.
1) She leaned towards her mother and whispered something.
वह उसकी माँ की ओर / दिशा में झुकी और कुछ कानाफूसी की.
2) They ran towards each other.
वे एक दूसरे की ओर दौड़े.
3) Do you have any anger towards your father?
क्या तुम्हें तुम्हारे पिता के प्रति कोई क्रोध है?
4) I have saved some money towards buying a car.
मैंने कार खरीदने के लिये कुछ पैसे बचाए हैं.
1) Why are you sitting under the table?
तुम टेबल के नीचे क्यों बैठे हो?
2) We stood under the tree till it stopped raining.
बारिश रुकने तक हम पेड़ के नीचे खड़े रहे.
3) The situation is under control now.
परिस्थिति अब नियंत्रण में है.
4) My car is under repair.
मेरी कार की मरम्मत शुरू है.
(under का अर्थ यहाँ 'शुरू है ऐसी स्थिति में')
5) The river is flowing under the bridge.
नदी पुल के नीचे से बह रही है.
6) He keeps his diary under the pillow.
वह अपनी डायरी तकिये के नीचे रखता है.
7) The company prospered under his presidency.
उसकी अध्यक्षता में / के दौरान कंपनी की उन्नति हुई.
8) He works under me.
वह मेरे अधीन काम करता है.
9) He got under 40% marks.
उसे 40% से कम अंक मिले.
10) Under the new rules, this will no longer remain possible.
नये नियमों के अनुसार अब यह संभव नहीं रहेगा.

(unto = to; unto पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी का शब्द है.)

क्या तुम इस पेड़ पर चढ़ सकते हो?
2) A cockroach ran up the wall.
तिलचट्टा दीवार पर चढ़ गया.
3) OK friends, our time is up - let's stop now.
अच्छा मित्रों, हमारा समय समाप्त हो गया है, हम अब रुकते हैं.

क्या चल रहा है? / क्या शुरू है?
1) Up to five hundred people can sit in the hall.
पांच सौ तक लोग इस हॉल में बैठ सकते हैं.
2) Up to yesterday, I was very well.
कल तक मैं बिलकुल ठीक था.
3) It is up to him to accept or refuse.
स्वीकारना या नकारना उसके हाथ में है.
Up till / Up until 1918 women in Britain had no right to vote.
1918 तक ब्रिटेन में महिलाओं को मतदान का अधिकार नहीं था.
1) There were a few books upon the table.
टेबल पर कुछ किताबें थीं.
2) I have come here upon his request.
मैं यहाँ उसकी विनती पर आया हूँ.
3) It depends upon you.
यह तुम पर निर्भर है.
इन तीनों वाक्यों में upon के स्थान पर on का प्रयोग किया जा सकता है. वैसे तो इस अर्थ में on का प्रयोग ही अधिक किया जाता है.
1) This bus goes to Nagpur via Amravati.
यह बस अमरावती होते हुए नागपुर जाती है.
2) I came to know about this via my friend.
मुझे इसके बारे में मेरे मित्र से पता चला.
3) This disease spreads via physical contact.
यह बीमारी शारीरिक संपर्क से फैलती है.
1) We are with you.
हम तुम्हारे साथ हैं.
2) You are always quarrelling with her.
तुम उससे हमेशा झगड़ते रहते हो.
3) Prices vary with the size and quality.
आकार और स्तर के अनुसार कीमतें बदलती हैं.
4) It is a company with its sales and service network all over.
संपूर्ण भारत भर में बिक्री और सेवा का जाल रखने वाली यह कंपनी है.
5) He was shivering with cold.
वह ठंड से काँप रहा था.
• कुछ करने के लिये प्रयोग किये जाने वाले साधनों के साथ with का प्रयोग किया जाता है.
जैसे,
1) You should have cut it with a knife.
तुम्हें उसे चाकू से काटना चाहिए था.
2) He was shot with a pistol.
उसे पिस्तौल से गोली मारी गई.
3) You can't succeed with such negative thoughts in mind.
मन में ऐसे नकारात्मक विचार लेकर तुम सफल नहीं हो सकते.
1) This couldn't have been done without your help.
तुम्हारी सहायता के बिना यह नहीं किया जा सकता था.
2) He always travelled without ticket.
वह हमेशा बिना टिकिट यात्रा करता था.
3) Without (a) doubt, man needs God.
निस्संदेह, मनुष्य को परमेश्वर की ज़रूरत है.
